Starry Night
Starry Night
Year of Creation: 1889
Starry Night is undeniably the major artwork of the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. Merging observation and composition, the Great Master illustrates the sky as he perceived and imagined it from his room at the asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. The artist maintains his connection with his blue, brilliant and vibrant nights characteristic of his series begun two years earlier. Exhibited at the MOMA in New York since 1941, the painting considered a pioneer of the Expressionism movement is one of the flagship artworks of the world of painting since the middle of the 20th century. We can certainly mention the “Starry Night Cult”.
