Café Terrace at Night
Café Terrace at Night
Year of creation: 1888
In Arles in 1888, Vincent van Gogh was obsessed with the need to paint at night. Café Terrace in the evening in Arles is its first in the series of starry skies illuminated with yellow stars. This café that the artist frequented was located near the Maison Jaune where van Gogh stayed in Arles. It changed its name in 1990 to Café Terrasse Van Gogh and was painted yellow, in order to satisfy the many curious people who visited it.
