Composition VIII
Composition VIII
Year of Creation: 1923
Composition VIII is a painting by Wassily Kandinsky created in 1923. It was considered by the artist to be the pinnacle of his post-war output. Painted during Kandinsky's period of intense production as a professor at the Bauhaus, Composition VIII is representative of his theory of perceptual associations of color and geometric form. It is part of a smaller body of ten paintings called Compositions, a term reserved by the artist for some of his most elaborate and laborious works.
